The aim of the research is to examine the
growing trends in maritime power politics and the struggle for dominance in the AsiaPacific region. The three methods of geoeconomics, geostrategic and geopolitical
synthesis are combined in the theoretical model to serve as variables and tools for
maritime power politics. Inside-out and outside-in strategies serve as a dynamic for the
complex interaction of regional and supra-regional actors and stakeholders in the
maritime space. This study used a hermeneutic method to understand and analyze the
power dynamics of this emerging maritime region where India, Pakistan, the US and
China have become important players with their national interests. The US has a range
of convergence of interests with India, including elevating India to regional leadership,
controlling the geopolitics of the region and countering China. Thus, the article analyzes
the maritime power politics of the Asia-Pacific region and illustrates the converging
and diverging interests of regional and non-regional powers in the 21st century.
2023-12-15T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 SHAJAR http://www.shajar.org/index.php/journal/article/view/2023-vol-05-issue-2-does-peace-of-mind-matters Does Peace of Mind Matters? This research examines workplace
mindfulness and counterproductive work behaviours. Workplace mindfulness and
turnover intentions were also examined. Data for the present study was collected from
121 engineering companies in Pakistan with approximately 2600 employees. To collect
the data, 187 questionnaires were distributed via emails and personal visits. The data
analysis was conducted through SPSS and smart-PLS. This research found that
workplace mindfulness negatively impacted counterproductive work behaviours.
Workplace mindfulness also negatively correlated with turnover intentions. This study
differs from the existing study since this model, "workplace mindfulness ->
counterproductive work behaviour -> turnover intentions", was developed and tested
for the first time. The study model was developed based on self-determination theory,
representing the aspects of psychological concerns behind people's choices in the
absence of external influences.
2024-01-15T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 SHAJAR http://www.shajar.org/index.php/journal/article/view/2023-vol-05-issue-2-political-philosophy-of-hassan-al-turabi Political Philosophy of Hassan al-Turabi and its National and Regional Implications 2024-02-24T18:36:33+00:00 Aasia Khatoon asiakhttk@gmail.com Maryum Anum maryamana0053@gmail.com Manzoor Khan Afridi manzoor.afridi@iiu.edu.pk
Hasan al-Turabi was a well-known Sudanese politician, political thinker, intellectual
and philosopher. He played a significant role in modern Sudanese politics, advocating
for the Islamization of the country and establishing a democratic government to
address its challenges. He made controversial decisions during his political career, the
outcomes of which regarding his goals and their broader impacts are still debated.
While his Islamic movement inspired others outside Sudan, its internal complexities
and the specific context of Sudan made a straightforward interpretation of "bringing
people from darkness towards liberty" difficult. Additionally, his promotion of “Unity
and Jihad towards Muslims as Uma” requires careful consideration within the historical
and theological context of the term. This research employs a descriptive and analytical
approach, utilizing secondary sources to analyze and discover al-Turabi’s political and
philosophical roles, both within Sudan and on global scale. The voting
pattern in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is difficult to determine because various factors coexist in influencing electoral politics. This study mainly tries to analyze the voting
behavior in KP in general and District Shangla as a case study. The researchers mainly
focused to address the question of determinants of voting behavior, political
orientation, and women turnout in the Shangla district. The researchers tested three
models which are sociological, psycho-social, and rational models of voting behavior to
understand the key determinants of the voting pattern in the case study. Both
qualitative and quantitative methods are used order to accomplish this project.
Research journals, books, reports, and newspaper data are analyzed whereas, a survey
was conducted in form of a questionnaire to acquire the quantitative data. The
researchers find that the psychosocial model is the most influential in determining
voting behavior as most people voted based on political factors such as party
affiliations and issues raised by candidates.
2024-01-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 SHAJAR http://www.shajar.org/index.php/journal/article/view/2023-vol-05-issue-2-comparative-analysis-of-multi-strategic-asse Comparative Analysis of Multi-Strategic Assessment Predictors in Reading Comprehension: A case Study of Pakistani Advanced EFL learners 2024-05-05T19:43:42+00:00 Arshad Mahmood Raja arshad.mehmood@iiu.edu.pk Faiz-ur-Rehman Gill fgill313@googlemail.com
The inevitability of assessment in reading comprehension revitalizes English language
instructions. The enhanced performance of Pakistani EFL graduate learners in reading
comprehension is an ample indicator of their potential in synthesizing, evaluating and
analyzing the text-oriented information. This study intends to (comparatively)
diagnose the required potential of EFL students in processing inferential and general
information through short and long texts by employing multi-strategic reading
comprehension assessment modes. The qualitative and quantitative analyses of text
passage questions, cloze tests and inferential questions surface a gap in the
performance of Pakistani EFL students. The analysis of the data shows that general
multiple short text questions result in better understanding of the text but inferential
mode rendered considerable impediment for learners. The assessment is sought under
Blooms taxonomy by applying four questionnaires as research tools. This research
intends to detect the main difficulties and the obstacles that hamper students’ text
comprehension by visualizing higher level of questioning that results in developing
higher order of thinking.
2024-02-21T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 SHAJAR
